Heated Graphite Atomizer (HGA) FURNACE HEAD, an accesory for Perkin-Elmer Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers (AA). Basically, sample is placed in a graphite tube and a few hundred amps heats the tube white hot to break down the sample to atoms. Light from the AA passes through the tube and sample and the atoms are identified and measured. The tubing fittings are for cooling water and argon gas to prevent the tube from burning.
