OAK INDUSTRIES - 3-251 Switch, Rotary.
Robust switch designed for commercial applications. Some advantages to open frame construction are that the switches have more flexibility on custom contact configurations and that they have sections that are sold separately. Shorting describes the action of the contact when you select your switch positions. With a non-shorting switch the connection is momentarily broken when you rotate from position 1 over to position 2
Contacts: 5 Position.
Connection: Solder Terminals.
Mech: Panel, 3/8" bushing.

Body: 1.532 (38.9mm) D x 651" (16.5mm) high plus seated bushing 0.378" (9.6mm) long, shaft 1/4" flat 0.329" (8.33mm) long.
Note: Phenolic wafer. PLEASE READ AND COMPREHEND PRIOR TO WIRING SWITCH! The contact switching arrangement is as follows. Terminal positions are numbered counterclockwise from the rear view of the switch. There are 24 physical segments. Orient the rear of the switch so that the mounting screw nuts are above the arc of rear side contacts with 4 terminals including two wipers. Start numbering immediately right of the left nut, being position 1 and increasing counterclockwise. Terminals on the visible side have even numbers and those on the other side have odd numbers. Empty holes are numbered as well. There are four wipers on the switch at positions 1, 2 , 10 and 13. Position 1 [No contacts are connected] Position 2 [1-3 and 13-15 are connected]Position 3 [1-5 , 13-17 and 10-16 are connected] Position 4 [1-7, 13-19 and ,10-18 and 2-6 are connected] Position 5 [1-9, 13-21 and 2-8 are connected]All contacts are non-shorting [break-before-make)
