This unit uses only 4 pins on the RJ12.

These connectors are specifically used for telecoms and networking tasks. The difference between the connectors is in the number of positions available on the connector itself, and with the number of contacts actually present.

Note: THIS UNIT USES ONLY 4 PINS.

RJ11 and RJ12 only differs in the wiring. RJ12 utilizes all six slots while RJ11 uses only four of the six slots available.

RJ11: 6P4C (6 Position, 4 Conductor) are typically used for ADSL, Telephone (connecting router to filter)

RJ12: 6P6C (6 Position, 6 Conductor) are typically used in Phone Systems.
