A OakGrigsby 700 series mechanical encoder works by using a rotating shaft with physical contacts to switch electrical circuits. When the shaft is turned, internal wipers or brushes make and break contact with a series of conductive pads on a circuit board. This action generates a sequence of electrical pulses that are sent to a control system, which can then interpret them to determine rotational direction, position, and speed.
Manual 2 Bit, 9-cycle, 36-Position with detents.
