Heated Graphite Atomizer (HGA) FURNACE HEAD, an accessory for Perkin-Elmer Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers (AA).
Basically, sample is placed in a graphite tube and a few hundred amps heats the tube white hot to break down the sample to atoms. Light from the AA passes through the tube and sample and the atoms are identified and measured. The tubing fittings are for cooling water and argon gas to prevent the tube from burning.
Description: Chrome plated non-ferrous tool metal, brass? - Fit a One Inch Collette, 1/4-20 additional set up points - Fluid injection points - Round set up head with off-center holes, about 3/4" - Opposite round heads are Spring loaded towards each other with guide pins w/ nylon bushings - comes with roll of flex-tubing (maybe 25') for the fluid point - Adjustable handle points perpendicular to each other.
Dimensions: About 5" x 5" x 4.5" high. Two Stainless donuts 2.5"OD, 0.87"W with Inside Diameter of 0.778". Black tube 1.1"OD x 1.25" Long with bronze or brass inserts, moveable with knob. Nine SS ports 3mm ID. Absolutely Beautiful piece of instrumentation & machining. Weighs Approximately 3.35 pounds.
