    On Floorboard Headlight Dimmer Switch or Foot Kill Switch.

    In 1925, the dimmer switch was located on the steering column. This changed in 1927, when the dimmer switch was moved to the floor.  Why did the location of the dimmer switch change? The automobile makers decided it was too much of a distraction on the steering column and agreed to move the dimmer switch to the floor. The floorboard area was wide open, perfect for the floor-mounted dimmer switches, as they could also be made larger and more durable. Car owners would enjoy the floor-mounted dimmer switch for the next 50 years.

    SPDT Latching Automotive Foot Switch for High/Low headlight beams.
